Green Wrythe Primary School

Modern Foreign Languages

The school is using its academy freedoms to develop the teaching of modern foreign languages at Green Wrythe.

Spanish has been introduced, but the pandemic has slowed its progression and roll out to all classes in the juniors. Spanish is the chosen language as it is the third most common language spoken around the world and local secondary schools also teach Spanish (Harris Morden and Greenshaw), which will enable our pupils to continue with their language learning. Spanish is currently taught in years 3 and 4. The plan is to roll out this teaching as the children move up the school through subsequent academic years. Long-term plans have been developed.
